Jumpstart Creativity Tour Craft Evening

Here in the Bow Valley we have a diverse group of artists, artisans, crafters, and writers. Our beautiful outdoor spaces provide tons of inspiration and there are many opportunities to create or to take part in the creations of others.

I was recently contacted by Jess Greene, from Massachusetts, who runs a website called Seek Your Course, where teachers of art and craft courses can post their offerings. She found me through my blog, where I post about the art and craft programs I teach. She is driving 10,000 miles across North America, stopping in 50 cities and towns in Canada and the US, on a Jumpstart Creativity Tour. She has picked Banff as one of the locations on the tour and while she is here she invites you to come out and make something using your hands and her materials.

This awesome event will take place at Wild Flour Cafe from 7 – 9 PM, this Friday, June 29th, 2012. You can choose between making a mixed media booklet, creative writing or mail art. There will be a raffle for creative books and/or products. You can meet Jess, as well as myself, as we come together to lead this creative evening. This opportunity is open to all with a suggested donation $3-5. You can order tickets via Eventbrite or drop-in!

Jess’ invite, going out to all in the area reads: “Are you a closet artist? Do you harbor secret dreams of writing? Do you have an urge to paint, take photographs, write or make stuff? We know how you feel. SO COME MAKE ART! Enjoy 2 hours of open-ended writing and art-making. There will be materials, projects and prompts but what you make is completely up to you! We believe that the creative community has the power to create change in the world. The Jumpstart Creativity Tour is the beginning of the ways that Seek Your Course is getting the message out and making creative engagement a common modern experience.”

I co-host the popular, Craft Cafe, with my friend, Sheena Miller at Wild Flour and we are pleased to introduce Jess to all the amazing people our area has to offer. Hope to see you there!

Tiffany Teske runs with scissors and runs amuck but rarely runs out of steam. She has two kiddo sidekicks with whom she bakes treats for tea parties, stages photo shoots during dress up, and holds dance parties between hugs and opportunities to be doused in glue and glitter. Tiffany hoards Polaroid film and old photographs of other people’s families. She could not live without bread, wine, chocolate, olives, and cheese. She has written, photographed, and made art for cupcakes, home grown produce, chiropractic services, haircuts, vacations, and art.

My daughter would love this but she’s only 7 (and a half!) – would it be OK to brig her?
