Paul Zizka can often be found in the wilderness with a camera bag slung over his shoulder, a tripod in one hand, and an ice axe in the other.
Fully dedicated to his photography and to pursuing adventures in the wilderness, this award-winning photographer strives for a delicate balance between capturing the outdoors and simply experiencing them. It is not uncommon to see him poised precariously on a ledge, hanging upside down, or lying in the grass to get the shot he is envisioning.
Paul’s photography has appeared in a variety of publications, including Explore Magazine, Islands Magazine, Our Canada, The Sunday Times Travel Magazine, Highline Magazine, Alive Magazine and the Canadian Alpine Journal. His shots have also found a home on the web with Mountain Equipment Co-op, Fodors, SkiingMag, Joy Trip Project, HighlineOnline and Alpinist, and have glossed the covers of explore magazine, IMPACT Magazine and Tails and Trails: Adventures for Everyone in the Canadian Rockies, by Lynn Martel (Rocky Mountain Books).
A variety of clients based in The Canadian Rockies rely on Paul for assistance with their marketing images. He has produced material for Parks Canada, Canadian Alpine Guides and Arctos & Bird, and is the “go to” photographer for Banff Lake Louise Tourism. His photos have won umpteen competitions, including the winning image in the climbing category at the 2010 Edinburgh Mountain Film Festival Photo Competition.
